Call for Artists - "Abstract Expressions" Juried Show

Deadline for Receipt of Entry Forms - 5:00 pm, Friday, September 10

Falls Church Arts invites member artists in all media to abandon the representational and explore abstraction. The show's juror is Karen J. Schmitz, an award-winning painter and printmaker from Alexandria, Virginia.

Kokolopori Student Art Contest Entries at FCA Gallery

Winning Works to Hang through the Summer

The theme of this year's Kokolopori Student Art Contest is "A Day in the Life of the Women of Kokolopori." The art contest is part of the ongoing Kokolopori-Falls Church Sister City Partnership launched in 2006. The 2010 judge for the competition is Kat Haverkamp.

Music and Art in the Park, 7:00 pm, Every Thursday, June 15–August 5, 2010

FCA Artists Featured at Cherry Hill Park

FCA artists join local musicians for the annual Concerts in the Park series this summer at Cherry Hill Park. The concerts are sponsored by the Village Preservation and Improvement Society and Falls Church City's Recreation and Parks Division. Artists are presented by Falls Church Arts.

  • June 17 — Falls Church Concert Band (movie themes), Cathy Summers (photography)
  • June 24 — Randy Barrett and the Barretones (bluegrass), Mary Exline and Pyracantha (paintings)
  • July 1 — Andrew Acosta and the New Old Time String Band (American roots), Mary O’Donnell and Henry Gallucio (paintings)
  • July 8 — Doris Justis and Friends (folk and acoustic), Ellen Dempsey (jewelry)
  • July 15 — Mike Thornton Quartet (jazz), Al Krachman (photography)
  • July 22 — Tom Principato (rock and roll and blues), Cheryl Bearss (paintings)
  • July 29 — Billy Coulter (rock), Terry Dusicsko (cut paper, jewelry, and picture frames)
  • August 5 — Judo Chop (80’s music), Bev Rocco (paintings) and Justine Spilman (photography)

In the event of rain, concerts will relocate to the Falls Church Community Center (223 Little Falls St., Falls Church).
