What Is Gallery Without Walls?

Gallery Without Walls (GWW) is a program that provides a way for artists to show their work and for businesses to support the arts in our community.

  • FCA links artists and businesses
  • The business provides exhibit space
  • The artist provides professionally displayed art
  • FCA matches businesses and artists that wish to participate in GWW
  • The artist works directly with the business to arrange to hang/display work
  • Using a variety of channels, FCA publicizes the locations of the current Gallery Without Walls exhibits and the art that is in place.
  • Displays change approximately three times per year

If you are interested in exhibiting your work through the GWW program, please review "What Artists Need to Know about GWW" (below) and fill out and submit the online Gallery Without Walls Artist Signup Form.

If you know of a business establishment or other venue in the Falls Church area that might be interested in participating in the GWW program, please send email to Gallery Without Walls.

If you have questions about the GWW program, please send email to Marty Behr, the coordinator of Gallery Without Walls.

What Artists Need to Know about GWW

The Gallery without Walls program is in the process of pairing Fall Church Arts member artists with local area businesses who choose to participate. The artist is chosen by the business on the basis of whether the art is both appropriate and appealing to the business.

To facilitate this selection, GWW needs the ability to review your work with interested business owners. Our preferred method of review with participating businesses is through the member artist listings on the Falls Church Arts website's "Artist Bios" page, with a link to a photo hosting site or website that shows at least four of your images that are representative of the work to be shown with our program. Otherwise, you will need to provide us with either a website link or a portfolio (can be small 4"x6" album) with at least four images and sizes for this purpose. The work must be representative of the works you wish to show.

If you wish to participate in Gallery without Walls, you should be aware of the following:

  • You are solely responsible for the installation and removal of your work.
  • Sales of your work need to be negotiated with the business where it is installed, with a suggested 20% donation made to Falls Church Arts.
  • Falls Church Arts is not responsible for any loss, theft, or damage of art that is installed through the program Gallery without Walls, and you will be required to sign a waiver to that effect.
  • The business where the art will be installed will not be responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to the installed work, and you will be required to sign a waiver to that effect.
  • The business where the art will be installed has final say over which art will be displayed on its premises.
  • The business where the art will be installed has final say over how the work should be displayed in regards to framing and mounting.
  • You will work with a site coordinator who is assigned through Falls Church Arts to oversee the scheduling process. The coordinator is not responsible for installation or removal of any work shown through this program.

We hope you will join us in bringing art to business and business to the arts.
